Scheduled for June 1-5, this coordinated outreach effort aims to raise awareness about the crime of human trafficking, the warning signs to look for and what to do if human trafficking is suspected.

Brake Safety Week is a seven-day focused inspection and enforcement initiative designed to improve safety by ensuring commercial motor vehicles on our roadways are operating with properly maintained and functioning braking systems.

CVSA expresses its support for the commercial motor vehicle safety provisions in the BUILD America 250 Act, a bipartisan bill designed to reauthorize federal surface transportation programs and modernize the national infrastructure network.

Of the 4,021 total inspections conducted, 3,447 commercial motor vehicles did not have any brake-related out-of-service violations – 85.7% of the total number of vehicles inspected.

Inspectors at weigh/inspection stations and temporary inspection sites are conducting inspections of commercial motor vehicles, drivers and cargo for compliance with federal regulations, utilizing the CVSA North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria to assess when a vehicle or driver should be restricted from travel on our roadways.

The Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative, scheduled for June 1-5, will bring together law enforcement agencies, transportation safety organizations, professional drivers, trucking and motorcoach companies, and concerned citizens to address the increased risks of human trafficking associated with large-scale international events.

The goal of this weeklong safe-driving enforcement and outreach initiative is to improve drivers’ behaviors through education, traffic-enforcement strategies and driver interactions with law enforcement.

Certified commercial motor vehicle enforcement personnel utilize the out-of-service criteria to determine whether or not drivers or vehicles present an imminent hazard and should be placed out of service.

This week, law enforcement jurisdictions, companies with trucks and motorcoaches, and transportation safety organizations in Mexico will conduct human trafficking awareness and outreach activities and submit data about those activities to the Alliance.

CVSA is now accepting nominations for its annual award that recognizes an extraordinary professional commercial motor vehicle driver and their commitment to public safety.

This week, law enforcement jurisdictions, companies with trucks and motorcoaches, and transportation safety organizations in Canada will conduct human trafficking awareness and outreach activities and submit data about those activities to the Alliance.

CVSA will award $5,000 college scholarships to two outstanding high school seniors based on the strength of their application and supporting materials, academic performance, volunteer work, community service and extracurricular activities.

From May 12 to 14, enforcement personnel throughout North America will inspect commercial motor vehicles and commercial motor vehicle drivers for compliance with vehicle, cargo and driver regulatory requirements as part of CVSA’s 72-hour inspection, enforcement and data-collection initiative.

Law enforcement jurisdictions, companies with trucks and motorcoaches, and transportation safety organizations in the U.S. will conduct human trafficking awareness and outreach activities and submit data about those activities to the Alliance.

CVSA’s Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative dates in the U.S. are scheduled for Jan. 12-16, 2026. Canada’s HTAI dates are Feb. 23-27, 2026. And in Mexico, HTAI is set for March 16-20, 2026.

Inspectors in 52 jurisdictions throughout North America conducted 15,175 commercial motor vehicle inspections with a focus on brake systems and components for Brake Safety Week, Aug. 24-30.

Law enforcement officers in Canada and the U.S. pulled over 8,739 vehicles and issued 2,504 tickets/citations and 3,575 warnings to drivers for unsafe driving infractions.

CVSA works closely with FMCSA to protect our roadways and improve commercial motor vehicle safety by providing guidance, education and advocacy for enforcement and industry across North America.

Commercial motor vehicle enforcement personnel in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. conducted 56,178 commercial motor vehicle, driver and cargo inspections on May 13-15 as part of CVSA’s 72-hour International Roadcheck inspection, enforcement and data-gathering initiative.
