Sécurisation adéquate des billes de bois

Justification ou besoin

Nous avons récemment discuté en Louisiane de la meilleure façon de sécuriser les billes de bois visibles sur la photo ci-jointe. Auparavant, on laissait la charge se déplacer comme illustré dans l'« Option 1 ».

J'ai joint une présentation PowerPoint contenant trois images du même chargement, chacune illustrant une méthode différente d'arrimage des billots (indiquée par un trait rouge pour le dispositif d'arrimage). Ce sont les seules possibilités auxquelles je pense, mais vous en avez peut-être d'autres. L'option 1 est-elle une méthode d'arrimage approuvée ? Quelle serait la méthode appropriée pour arrimer ces billes de bois lors de leur chargement sur ce véhicule de transport ? Quel serait le nombre minimal de dispositifs d'arrimage requis pour sécuriser le chargement ? Où ces dispositifs d'arrimage devraient-ils être placés ?

Mesures prises par le comité

The four different options were included with the agenda items and attachments and each option was reviewed. The NSC Standard 10 and U.S. Federal Regulations are the same in this case.

The shorter logs are on the bottom. If the log that is shown was not extended above the bunk, then option 2 or option 3 would be adequate. The load would have to be crested in the middle if the logs are above the bunks. This is not the case in the picture. The outer ones have to be touching the bunks. FMCSA indicated that in this case, you would have to deal with this as two separate loads. There was a lot of discussion regarding how many tiedowns are required. By the end of the discussion, it was determined that either Option 2 or 3 would be compliant, although Option 2 was preferred. However, Option 3 is minimum but adequate providing that the AWLL of the tiedowns are 1/6th of the weight of the load.
