| Résumé de l’enjeu | Michelin développe une bande de roulement évolutive pour les pneus de camions. Cette bande de roulement sera différente des modèles actuellement utilisés. On craint que les inspecteurs aient besoin d'aide pour mesurer et déterminer si la bande de roulement est en bon état. |
| Justification ou besoin | Ce bulletin est nécessaire pour éviter que des pneus dont la bande de roulement évolue de manière satisfaisante ne soient considérés comme « hors service ». Des discussions préliminaires avec des représentants de la CVSA et du DOT ont suggéré qu'un tel bulletin soit soumis à l'examen dès que possible. |
| Demande d’action | La CVSA doit examiner et approuver le bulletin ci-joint afin que les inspecteurs aient une référence pour comprendre comment mesurer correctement la « bande de roulement évolutive ». Les documents soumis à l'examen sont : Projet de bulletin d'inspection des bandes de roulement évolutives soumis le 11_DEC_18.docx, un projet de bulletin. Copie de l'article « L'évolution de la conception des bandes de roulement pour les camions commerciaux pourrait être imminente », paru dans le numéro de décembre 2016 du magazine CVSA Guardian. |
| Mesures prises par le comité | An inspection bulletin was created by Michelin in regard to their evolving tread tire. This product will be rolled out to the large truck industry within the next 2 years. There is concern by the manufacturer that roadside will not know how to measure tread depth with the evolving tread tires. There are several layers of tread, and even though it may look low there may be more below tread underneath. These tires are not currently on large trucks, only passenger vehicles. Question on whether proposed inspection bulletin should stay in draft form until the product is introduced to the large truck industry. Manufacturer did state that it is on light passenger vehicles, which includes pickups, so there is potential to see this roadside on CMV pickups. Question is whether there should be an inspection bulletin at all. General consensus of committee is that an inspection bulletin is needed and that is should come out as soon as possible since there is potential to see these tires on CMV pickups now. The inspection bulletin will be passed onto the Training Committee for review and approval and they will bring back to Vehicle Committee in Biloxi for final review. Training Committee reported that the Inspection Bulletin was completed and they were going to do an Inspection Bitz to go with it. The Vehicle and Training Committee both approved the bulletin and the video was recorded during the meeting as well and posted to the CVSA website. |
