| Résumé de l’enjeu | Le service de police de Frisco constate de nombreux cas de camions transportant des briques dont le chargement n'est pas correctement arrimé et souhaite obtenir des précisions concernant les exigences d'arrimage. Sur la photo ci-jointe, à l'exception des deux premières piles de briques, seulement une pile sur deux est correctement arrimée. Les briques sont bien protégées sur le dessus par des bandes de protection qui les recouvrent, mais cela ne devrait pas constituer un chargement unique. Sur la photo, chaque étiquette d'entreprise apposée sur les briques correspond à une pile distincte. |

| Mesures prises par le comité | The picture of a load of bricks with edge protection and wire mesh was presented. The first skid was tied down with two tiedowns and the next few skids were tied down with edge protection being used to unitize the load and therefore did not have one tiedown per skid, but rather one tiedown for every 10 foot of load. It was stated that if edge protection was of adequate strength then it would unitize it. It was reaffirmed by other committee members that the edge protection would unitize the load in this case and therefore, only 1 tiedown for every 10 foot of load is required. It was further stated that the definition of edge protection describes exactly what we have here. Unitizing of cargo by the letter of the regulation does not spell out what to do in each and every case. The load would meet the requirement for length, weight (WLL) may be an issue since they are now unitized but we do not know the weight of the pallets of brick. The committee unanimously agreed that there is no violation in the issue that was brought forward. |
