| Resumen del asunto | El Departamento de Policía de Frisco está observando que muchos transportistas de ladrillos transportan cargas mal aseguradas y solicita aclaraciones sobre los requisitos de sujeción. Excepto las dos primeras pilas de ladrillos en la fotografía adjunta, solo se observa que una de cada dos pilas está asegurada. Las pilas de ladrillos cuentan con protección perimetral que las cubre, pero esto no debería unificar la carga como un solo artículo. En la fotografía, cada etiqueta de la empresa en los ladrillos corresponde a una pila de ladrillos independiente. |

| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | The picture of a load of bricks with edge protection and wire mesh was presented. The first skid was tied down with two tiedowns and the next few skids were tied down with edge protection being used to unitize the load and therefore did not have one tiedown per skid, but rather one tiedown for every 10 foot of load. It was stated that if edge protection was of adequate strength then it would unitize it. It was reaffirmed by other committee members that the edge protection would unitize the load in this case and therefore, only 1 tiedown for every 10 foot of load is required. It was further stated that the definition of edge protection describes exactly what we have here. Unitizing of cargo by the letter of the regulation does not spell out what to do in each and every case. The load would meet the requirement for length, weight (WLL) may be an issue since they are now unitized but we do not know the weight of the pallets of brick. The committee unanimously agreed that there is no violation in the issue that was brought forward. |
