Pictures were shown to the committee of a new carrier bearing bracket that had the rubber support working its way out of the carrier bearing bracket. The driveline/driveshaft was starting to make contact with the rubber support and causing damage. The driveline/driveshaft could not be moved by hand pressure more than 1/8th inch and therefore was not a violation or OOS. The request was to add a condition to the OOSC any apparent movement of the carrier bearing support or bracket coming in contact with the driveline/driveshaft as OOS. This was very similar to the other request that had been previously discussed regarding the driveline coming in contact with parts of the vehicle. In the other case, it was the crossmember. The committee discussed the same issues again and could not say that at the point of the inspection that this condition is an imminent hazard and should be in the OOS. It was indicated that the bearings will get tight and start to wear into the rubber and this will cause a vibration. Carrier bearing keeps the drive line in correct angles and holds things in place. The committee further discussed the fact that if the rubber is gone and the driveline comes into contact with metal, other conditions that are currently in the OOSC will result at which time the vehicle is considered in an imminently hazardous condition.

With the information presented, it decided that this condition should not be included in the OOSC. No motions were made and this issue was closed.
