Résumé de l’enjeu	Le tableau des chaînes, copié de la norme 10 du Code national de sécurité (CNS) : pour une chaîne de 5/16 po, une chaîne de grade 80 a une charge de travail maximale (CTM) inférieure à celle d’une chaîne de grade 70 ? C'est le seul cas où une telle anomalie apparaît dans ce tableau, et ici au Canada, elle cause certains problèmes.

Mesures prises par le comité	Information received from the chain manufacturers' is as follows:NACM specifies the material diameter for the various grades of chain. On Grade 70 they specify .343" wire diameter and allow the minimum to be -7% from that. Example"5/16" Grade 70 Trade Size" chain can be made with wire as small as .319\". On Grade 80 & Grade 100, NACM specifies the wire diameter to be .315" and allows the minimum to be -3% of that. Example "5/16" Grade 80 Trade Size" chain can be made from wire as small as .306\" The smaller wire diameter cannot carry as large of a load per "Trade Size" on this size of chain. The reasoning behind this wire size on the 5/16" Grade 80 & Grade 100 is to allow for clearances in the many various fittings and attachments that must be used in overhead lifting applications for alloy chain. Section 6.2 of NACM is where the wire specification addressed. Based on the above information, the chain chart in the NSC Standard 10 and FMCSRs is correct and not a typo.
