| Demande d’action | Conseils et interventions éventuelles hors service. |
| Mesures prises par le comité | The Vehicle Committee discussed the issue concerning the anti-sway bar. It was agreed the anti-sway bar was not a suspension component in the traditional sense because the axle can stay in place and the tires are held to the road surface without an anti-sway bar. However, if there were a failure of an end fastener that allowed the end of the anti-sway bar to hang free and possibly come in contact with a tire, that would create an imminent hazard. The inspector must judge each situation independently to determine if an imminently hazardous condition exists. If the free end were judged likely to impact a tire or other such component an imminently hazardous condition would exist and the vehicle should be placed out of service. If the "free" end were judged not likely to impact a tire or other component it would not be constitute an imminently hazardous condition and should not be placed out of service. |
