| Resumen del asunto | Una flota de camiones transportadores de automóviles (CRC Transport) recibió una multa por "Bujes: No se observa lubricante visible ni medible en el buje de la rueda exterior". La suspensión consiste en un buje con tapacubos macizo y lubricado con grasa. La grasa no es visible. |
| Justificación o necesidad | Este no es un diseño nuevo. Los bujes rellenos de grasa con tapacubos macizos se han utilizado en remolques durante muchos años (más de 20). Los ejes motrices han utilizado tapacubos macizos durante décadas. |

| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | It was discovered by roadside inspectors that some of these clear hubcaps are filled with grease and not oil. The inspectors did not see a measurable amount in the clear hubcap due to bearings being packed with grease instead of oil. Vehicles were inadvertently placed out of service and should not have been. Examples of the clear hubcaps were sent to the committee it is evident that a grease filled hub could have a oil style clear hubcap installed therefore giving inspectors a false out of service violation. After much discussion in the committee, it was determined that there was no way inspectors could be consistent in enforcing this violation. The committee decided to remove 14.i.(5) No visible or measurable amount of lubricant showing in hub from the out of service criteria. |
