| Resumen del asunto | El agente estaba inspeccionando un vehículo con frenos hidráulicos y asistencia eléctrica. Como se observa en el video, el conjunto está suelto. Si bien estaba lo suficientemente ajustado como para que la asistencia eléctrica se activara, presentaba una holgura notable. Faltaba una tuerca de fijación y la otra estaba considerablemente suelta. No se ha detectado ninguna anomalía en la garantía. |
| Justificación o necesidad | Existe un criterio de fuera de especificación (OOS) para el montaje suelto del compresor o los soportes de montaje agrietados/rotos, pero no para los componentes del sistema hidráulico. Una vez que se desprenda por completo, se producirá una falla en el sistema de freno de servicio. |

| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | The discussion in committee was that this situation would cause a severe reduction in braking action and if the assembly were to completely detach, there would be no braking action. It was determined that this condition should be first in the list for hydraulic brake conditions up near the master cylinder. This caused the section to have to be renumbered. The committee unanimously voted to add a new section to the beginning of the hydraulic brakes to address loose or missing mounting bolts and the board of directors approved the following language: o. Hydraulic Brakes (1) The master cylinder assembly (including backup system, power assist, or power brake unit) has loose or missing mounting bolts or is not secured causing it to shift out of its normal position. (2) The fluid level in any master cylinder reservoir is less than 1/4 full or below minimum marking. NOTE: Normally to be inspected when readily visible or problems are apparent. (3) Hydraulic or vacuum lines, hoses or connections are restricted, crimped, broken or damaged through the outer reinforcement ply. NOTE: Rubber impregnated fabric cover is not a reinforcement ply. (4) Any observable seepage, bulge or swelling on a brake hose under application pressure. (5) Improperly joined, such as a splice made by sliding a hose/tube end over the brake line and clamping the hose to the brake line. (6) Any observable leaking hydraulic fluid in the brake system upon full application. (7) No pedal travel reserve with engine running upon full brake application. (8) Brake power assist unit is inoperative. (9) Hydraulic power brake unit is inoperative. (10) Brake failure warning system is missing, inoperative, disconnected, defective or activated while the engine is running with or without brake application. (11) The hydraulic brake backup system is inoperative. This issue will be on the ballot for 2021 and inclusion into the 2022 OOSC. |
