| Resumen del asunto | Tengo preguntas sobre los nuevos cables con revestimiento sintético que se utilizan actualmente en la industria. He obtenido los criterios que el fabricante utiliza para determinar cuándo ya no se pueden usar estos cables. El problema es que las normas del fabricante sobre cables sintéticos son más restrictivas que los criterios actuales de OOS (Out of Standards). Me preocupa que si el fabricante indica que este tipo de cables ya no se permiten a partir de cierto punto de daño, pero el OOS no coincide, podría resultar en lesiones o algo peor. |

| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | This was discussed in Montreal cargo securement forum. During the forum, pictures were shown of a synthetic cable covered by a plastic cover. It was discussed that the manufacturer replacement standard is stricter than the OOSC. There is a concern about taking manufacturer standards and making them OOSC. There is a difference between when a manufacturer feels like it needs to be replaced (maintenance) as to when the tiedown is about to fail. This tiedown is used for primary securement of logs with bunks. It was contemplated as to whether something needs to be added to the OOSC or if it is already covered. ANCRA indicated that he could give more information on this tiedown. He referenced Section 9 in the NSC Standard 10 for Synthetic Rope and Attachments and that this tiedown might be covered under there. He suggested that the cordage/rope table covers this type of tiedown, the only difference is that there is a plastic coating over the cordage rope. The forum concluded that due to this type of tiedown being covered by the existing cordage defects, this issue could be closed. The item was closed with no action taken. |
