| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | The situation was explained in the meeting where there was an incident where there had been a brake fire which then led to the tires catching fire. The fire was extinguished before the tires were visibly damaged. With information received from the Tire and Wheel Study Group, it was suggested to make an addition to the OOSC to read as follows: Any tire that has been subjected to fire, such as: "Accompanied by clear evidence or reliable eyewitness testimony that the tire has been on fire or subjected to direct flame impingement." The information supplied indicated that a tire subjected to anything more than 325 degrees should be placed OOS. Discussion in the committee was that, in most cases, when a tire catches fire it is most likely to explode and those conditions are already covered in the current language. It was also suggested that it is not practical or possible to include every instance into the OOSC. The determination must be made as to how often this scenario will happen and does it deserve reference in this document. It was concluded by the committee that this condition does not need to be specifically addressed in the OOSC based on the number of times this would be able to be properly determined by an inspector and the few times that it may not result in another already documented OOS condition. |
