| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | There were pictures shown to the committee of a towing vehicle with one vehicle connected to it by means of a saddlemount and a rear facing third vehicle connected to the saddlemounted vehicle by means of a trailer "platform" which is secured to the fifth wheel of the towing vehicle and the fifth wheel of the towed vehicle and the platform has a lightweight vehicle secured on it. The committee has discussed DA/TA on several occasions and it was unanimously agreed upon that the combination in question would require brakes when there is a vehicle on the platform, based on 393.42 If there is no vehicle on the platform, it does meet the definition of a DA/TA combination and therefore brakes would only be required on the pulling unit in that case. There was discussion on whether an Inspection Bulletin should be created and it was decided that this is a local training issue and it is clear in the regulations that the DA/TA definition does not apply when the vehicle is loaded. There were no motions to create a bulletin and the issue was closed. |
