| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | It was discussed that this issue was raised during a Part B training course and that the way the current note is in relation to Part II of the North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria (OOSC), item 6. LIGHTING DEVICES, b. At Anytime - Day or Night, (2), the language in the parentheses is confusing to new inspectors during training. In the description it does not indicate whether the vehicle is operated singularly or in combination. As a result of the current language, out-of-service conditions are overlooked because some inspectors misinterpret the current language. The current wording does not specify that it applies only in cases when the tractor is operated in a "bob-tail" mode. The committee agreed that it could be misinterpreted and it was also discussed that the removal of double faced lens would be appropriate based on the different styles of lights on tractors today. The Vehicle Committee unanimously approved amending the OOSC to read as follows: 6.LIGHTING DEVICES (HEADLAMPS, TAIL LAMPS, STOP LAMPS, TURN SIGNALS AND LAMPS / FLAGS ON PROJECTING LOADS) b. At Anytime - Day or Night (3)Does not have an operative turn signal on each side of the rear of a single unit vehicle or the rear of the rear-most vehicle of a combination of vehicles. Exception - Truck tractors operated as a single unit - A vehicle is not placed out of service for an inoperative rear turn signal when the turn signals located on the front are visible from the rear.
