| Resumen del asunto | Esta solicitud surge a raíz de un informe de inspección del vehículo en el que se determinó que el vehículo estaba fuera de servicio debido a la desinflación de una bolsa de aire de la suspensión neumática. El conductor detectó una fuga de aire en el sistema de suspensión y la reparó con éxito antes de la inspección, por lo que posteriormente se le retiró el permiso de circulación una vez finalizada la misma. |

| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | A representative from SAF Holland, Mr. Michael Edlund presented to the Vehicle Committee, information about air ride suspension systems. It was explained that an air bags internal bumper is designed to act as a down stop to allow equipment to be moved for short distances at reduced speeds when the air bags become deflated. When the vehicle is operated in this condition for short distances at reduced speeds it does not present an imminent hazard. However, judgment is needed to determine how far a vehicle can be moved and under what conditions, depending on load, speed, and road surface. The Vehicle Committee decided that there are too many variables that are subject to interpretation, therefore a deflated air bag would remain an OOS item. The Vehicle Committee determined that the vehicle described in the issue was properly placed out of service. |
