| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | It was discussed that Appendix G requires the reservoir air pressure to be 80-90 psi AFTER the brakes have been fully applied. The act of applying the brakes reduces the air pressure in the tanks because air has to go from it and fill the chambers and apply the brakes. The OOSC asks for the air pressure to be between 90-100 psi BEFORE the brake application. Therefore, the brake application could potentially bring the pressure down to 80-90 psi after the brake application. Appendix G was adopted in 1988. Since then, the vehicle designs and the NAS OOSC have changed. Unfortunately, Appendix G has not kept current. Several sections in it need modification. It was determined that the OOS brake criteria is correct and that adding notes might confuse the issue. Therefore the suggestion was to ask FMCSA to provide information relating to the relationship between the application air pressure requirements stated in the OOS criteria and Appendix G. |
