Mesures prises par le comité

Louisville Meeting - Information was presented on this issue indicating the potential hazards for lamps that are too high an the incorrect color. It was discussed at great length during the Annual Conference when it was approved by Vehicle Committee. As a committee they came to a consensus to put the current note into the OOSC as an imminent hazard. Due to time restraints, the motion was tabled, and the committee was instructed to come back in the fall meeting with thoughts on removing the note or amending the note. Concerns were raised by CVSA staff that removing the note will create the same question that came up before. With no guidance either way, some will interpret that height, color and location do result in an OOS condition for missing lamps and others will interpret it the other way and say that they are still there and cite the violation but not apply the OOS. Uniformity is paramount for the OOSC, so removing the note may not be the best option. It was suggested that if anyone had crash data from this situation, it would of value to the committee. Further information will be presented to determine if the information in the OOS will be amended or removed.

Montana Meeting - This item was discussed briefly again, however, no one presented further information to the committee for consideration (collision data etc.). Therefore, this item is being closed with no action taken until such time crash data or some further justification is presented.
