Emails from the TMC Tire and Wheel Study Group were shown in support of adding this condition to the OOSC. Discussion in the committee referred back to this same issue being brought to this committee about 5 years ago and there were tire manufacturers (Michelin and Bridgestone) that were in attendance and said there have been no instances that they are aware of that a tire has blown due to this condition. Discussion in the committee varied from this being a tire that needs to be replaced immediately to it being the thickest part of the tire and it should not be considered an imminent hazard. Based on the information the committee had received in the past from the tire manufacturers and that no specific information had been provided by the Tire and Wheel Study Group, the committee determined that no amendments could be made at this time. Currently this tire (unless damaged cord can be identified) is not outlined in the OOS criteria. If more information is provided to this committee, the issue will be reopened but without further info, the issue is closed.
