| Mesures prises par le comité | Several pictures and information was shown in regard to the Surlock Suspension. The request was sent to TTMA to get their opinions regarding these trailers being operated in the ?parked? position on the highway. They had reported that the installation or use of Hendrickson's SURELOK system on a trailer with a Hendrickson air suspension does not negate our requirement of inflating the air suspension when the trailer is being operated over the road. Hendrickson's SURELOK system is designed to stabilize the trailer while the trailer is being loaded and unloaded, typically at a loading dock. It is only to be used when the trailer is stationary. SURELOK is designed to automatically engage (i.e., the locking legs are rotated so that they are positioned above the suspension beams) when the trailer?s parking brakes are engaged. When the parking brakes are released, SURELOK automatically disengages. It was pointed out that there is an important note at the bottom of the technical documents that was sent to the committee from TTMA as well. IMPORTANT: DO NOT drive away with the SURELOK arms still engaged. Wait until the trailer air system has completely aired-up." Based on the information received, the committee agreed that the Surelock arms in no way negate the OOS condition on a trailer if it is somehow operated without air suspension. The committee agreed that the OOS condition should apply when the air suspension is deflated and being operated on a highway. |
