| Mesures prises par le comité | An adhoc committee was formed to work on this issue. Pictures were shown in meetings where sub-frames had come off the bottom of the trailer due to the degradation of the attachment points to the trailer. The suspension ad-hoc committee discussed this issue with several vendors however, there was no industry standard. A suggestion was made by the Vehicle Committee to use a 50% tolerance for the welds. This was submitted to TTMA for comment and they wrote a letter indicating that they would support placing a vehicle OOS if more than 50% of the welds connecting the rail to the trailer were cracked. They also supplied further conditions related to continuous lengths of cracked welds and cracks in the radius of the rail itself. There were 3 new suggested conditions to be added to 9.e. of the criterion. The committee voted unanimously to approve the addition of (3), (4), (5) to 9.e. in the Adjustable Axles(s)/Sliding Trailer Suspension System section as follows: (3) The sliding suspension attachment member (undercarriage body rail) on either side exhibits a crack of any length in more than 50% of its attachment welds. (4)A sliding suspension member’s (undercarriage body rail) attachment welds are cracked completely through along a 4’ (1.2m) continuous length of the body rail. (5)A sliding suspension attachment member (undercarriage body rail) is cracked completely through along a 4’ (1.2m) continuous length. The motion was also passed by the Executive Committee. |
