| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | The concern raised involved misunderstanding of the requirements leading to improper use of friction mats instead of tiedowns to secure cargo. It was presented that an individual could use a friction mat and in doing so, not use the required number of tiedowns, because the friction mat is being used instead. Forum attendees didn’t feel there was a safety concern and such improper use of friction mats was unlikely. During the meeting it was discussed that friction mats are not a tiedown because they are not adjustable and actually don’t tie the load down so it is not counted in aggregate of WLL’s requirement of meeting half the weight of the load. Friction mats are just used in addition to tiedowns to help keep the load from moving. No action was taken by the forum and the issue was closed. There was no additional comments or concerns from the Vehicle Committee so the issue request was closed by Vehicle Committee as well. |
