| Medidas adoptadas por el comité | The committe consulted with TTMA in regards to this condition. They determined that this was something that should be answered by the suspension manufacturers themselves. The 3 major manufacturers were written and a response was received. The indication in the letter was that repairs should be made when the pins are reduced or holes are enlarged by 25% of their original dimension. However, because of the many factors involved, a determination for OOSC was not recommended. The committee could not recall a loss of trailer accident caused by slider locking pins. While 25% wear could be used for a defect, it was difficult to know how to make that determination when the original dimension is unknown. Ultimately it was decided not to add this condition to the OOSC. The thought was expressed however, that if the pins and holes are worn to the extent that the trailer axles were misaligned from their normal position, the vehicle could be placed OOS under Suspension item 9.a.(2) relating to axle positioning parts. |
