Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder and a significant contributor to fatigue-related performance impairment, a factor frequently identified in National Transportation Safety Board crash investigations. For motor carriers, untreated insomnia can increase crash/incident risk, diminish driver well-being and contribute to preventable errors and turnover. This session will help safety managers recognize the signs of insomnia, understand the medical evaluation process and build effective partnerships with medical examiners. Attendees will learn about evidence-based treatment options, including cognitive behavioral therapy, appropriate medication use and practical sleep hygiene strategies. They will leave with tools and resources to connect drivers with qualified sleep specialists and support healthier sleep across the fleet.

The Human Trafficking Prevention program fosters discussion around ways to reduce the occurrence of human trafficking within the trucking industry.

The North American Standard Level VI Inspection Program is an inspection program specifically for transuranic waste and highway route controlled quantities (HRCQ) of radioactive material.

Operation Airbrake is a campaign dedicated to improving commercial motor vehicle brake safety.

PBBT Users is a working forum that provides jurisdictions using performance-based brake testers (PBBTs) and others interested in their use a chance to work to advance PBBTs as an enforcement tool. Attendees will share their PBBT experiences and work to refine procedures and training materials for PBBT use. Carriers, suppliers, enforcement and other interested parties are welcome.

This engaging information session is for individuals in current leadership positions, current committee voting members and individuals interested in stepping into leadership roles. This session will provide an overview of key responsibilities and the impact these roles have on advancing our mission. We’ll also go over open leadership opportunities and ways to become more involved within the Alliance.

The Audits and Investigations Committee achieves excellence and professionalism in the performance of commercial motor carrier/shipper audits and investigations through uniform and quality training and investigative processes.

The Driver-Traffic Enforcement Committee promotes effective traffic enforcement strategies to reduce commercial motor vehicle crashes and provides leadership through uniformity of driver-related safety issues.

The Hazardous Materials Committee provides technical expertise related to the transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods in an effort to reduce incidents and encourage uniformity and consistency in the application of regulations.

The Vehicle Committee focuses on issues associated with the vehicle in an effort to ensure an environment free of commercial motor vehicle incidents on public highways.

The Size and Weight Committee helps establish uniformity of size and weight regulations that will serve the needs of industry while protecting our infrastructures.

Led by independent advisors, this session will outline the planning and development process for the Alliance’s next strategic plan and provide the opportunity to share your perspectives, ideas and priorities. Your input will help shape CVSA’s direction and ensure the new strategic plan reflects the needs and priorities of the membership.

The Passenger Carrier Committee works toward the goal of an environment free of passenger-carrier crashes on our roadways.

The Crash Data and Investigation Standards Committee will establish and promote uniform comprehensive crash investigation, reporting and data collection standards for all stakeholders.

The Enforcement and Industry Modernization Committee identifies technological advancements that can be leveraged to improve commercial motor vehicle safety by enhancing the performance, quality and uniformity of commercial motor vehicle inspections and transforming enforcement-related activities.

The Information Systems Committee serves the information technology needs of commercial motor vehicle safety programs.

The Policy and Regulatory Affairs Committee develops the Alliance’s policy positions and implementation strategies for the agency/department leaders responsible for the coordination and oversight of commercial motor vehicle safety and enforcement programs. The committee also serves as a forum for international regulatory harmonization discussions.

The Training Committee identifies training needs and develops courses leveraging the latest methodologies and technologies to help achieve excellence in the performance, quality training and uniformity of commercial motor vehicle inspections.

The Cooperative Hazardous Materials Enforcement Development (COHMED) Program fosters coordination, cooperation and communication among the federal, state and local agencies responsible for regulating and enforcing the safe transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods.

International Roadcheck is a 72-hour annual event when CVSA-certified inspectors conduct inspections of commercial motor vehicles and drivers.

The North American Inspectors Championship (NAIC) tests, recognizes and awards commercial motor vehicle inspector excellence.

Operation Safe Driver was created to reduce the number of deaths and injuries resulting from driver behavior-related crashes involving large trucks, buses and passenger vehicles.

The International Driver Excellence Award (IDEA) is an industry-wide driver excellence award program.
