Issue Name | Operational Policy 14 - Co-Driver Violations |
Summary of Issue | CVSA has repeatedly decided that co-drivers shall not be placed out of service for any violations during a roadside inspection. They have also updated the Part I Policy Statement in the OOSC to reflect this position. However, CVSA Operational Policy 14 states under "Hours of Service" that "A false log is not an OOS condition for a co-driver". This phrase is very specific to a false log and implies that other violations may be out of service for a co-driver. To avoid confusion, the sentence in Ops Policy 14 should be removed. |
Justification or Need | The language of OOS conditions for co-drivers should be clarified. |
Request for Action | Remove the language in Operational Policy 14 that states "A false log is not an OOS condition for a co-driver". This language is unnecessary and may cause confusion with the addition of the updated Part I Policy Statement. |
Action Taken by Committee | Discussion to remove the phrase "A false log is not an OOS condition for a co-driver" from Ops Policy 14 was not necessary. Co-Driver No action was taken by the committee. |
