Issue Name | Level VI OOSC, Part II, Item 36. Missing or Expired Annual Inspection |
Summary of Issue | During a Level VI Point of Origin inspection, the vehicle was found to have no valid periodic (annual) inspection decal or documentation. |
Justification or Need | This should be considered for a Point of Origin violation and prevent the vehicle from obtaining a Level VI Inspection decal. Based on the fact that this is an enhanced inspection and inspectors are ensuring that the vehicle has very few vehicle violations, it would make sense to consider that an invalid or no periodic (annual) inspection should prevent the vehicle from passing Point of Origin. |
Request for Action | Consider adding the following condition in the in Level VI Flipchart as a Point of Origin inspection item. 36. Proof of Periodic (Annual) Inspection |
Action Taken by Committee | Currently there is no language in the Level VI Inspection Procedures addressing the annual periodic inspection. Adding this item will require each unit to have a valid periodic inspection before a CVSA Level VI decal is applied by the inspector. It will only affect a Point of Origin inspection and is not intended to be an OOS condition. CVSA North American Standard Out of Service Criteria and Level VI Inspection Procedures Part II by adding the following item: 36. Proof of Periodic (Annual) Inspection |
