Issue Name | OOSC, Part II, Item 4. Driveline/Driveshaft, a. Yoke Ends |
Summary of Issue | Clarification of the Out of Service Criteria as it relates to the Driveline/ Driveshaft inspection items. Under Sect. 4. a. (2) The OOS criteria states "Any yoke-mounting hardware loose (with hand pressure only), broken or missing. In many instances, I have found that the Yoke nut (which is a locking nut) has backed-off from the Yoke itself causing the Yoke to be loose, however, the Yoke Nut itself is not actually loose by using hand pressure. In this instance, would the OOS criteria apply to this condition or only if the Yoke Nut can be turned with hand pressure? |
Justification or Need | For guidance on the driveline/ driveshaft inspection. |
Request for Action | I am requesting a review of the OOS criteria as it relates to the condition as described in the Summary of Issue and a change to the OOS criteria to include a note regarding the condition described and whether the condition of a loose Yoke would be an Out of Service condition. |
Action Taken by Committee | This item was briefly discussed; however, committee members did not submit a motion to amend the current OOSC due to lack of information or justification (collision info, etc.) |
