PHMSA Announces Public Meetings Ahead of International Meetings
On March 12, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA)  the Office of Hazardous Materials Safety will host four public meetings throughout 2025 in advance of certain international meetings.  is required.

NHTSA Announces Enforcement Discretion Related to ‘Bus Rollover Structural Integrity’ Final Rule
On March 3, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)  a notification of enforcement discretion announcing that NHTSA will not take enforcement action against regulated entities for failing to comply with the  titled “Bus Rollover Structural Integrity” until March 20.

Update on Exemptions

FMCSA Renews and Requests Comments on R.J. Corman, Cranemasters and NRC Exemption
On March 10, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) provisionally  the exemption for R.J. Corman Railroad Services (R.J. Corman), Cranemasters Inc. (Cranemasters), and the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association Inc. (NRC) from the prohibition against driving a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle (CMV) beyond the 14th hour after coming on duty and driving after accumulating 60 hours of on-duty time in seven consecutive days, or 70 hours of on-duty time in eight consecutive days. The exemption renewal is applicable to railroad employees operating CMVs in response to unplanned events that occur outside of or extend beyond the subject employees’ normal work hours. This renewed exemption is effective March 4 through Sept. 4. Comments are due by April 9.

Other Items of Interest

On March 7, Adrienne Camire was  as deputy administrator and acting administrator of FMCSA. Camire was appointed to be senior advisor to the administrator at FMCSA on Jan. 31.
