Progress Continues on 2020 Appropriations
Congress continues work on the 2020 appropriations process. Several funding bills have completed the House committee markup process and have been passed for consideration by the full House. However, language for the House bill that funds transportation has not yet been released but the total funding for the bill, which includes non-transportation programs, has been announced at $75.8 billion. The Senate held several hearings to examine budget proposals from the various executive agencies.

CVSA Meetings with Congressional Offices Continue
CVSA staff continues to meet with congressional offices to discuss CVSA, the needs of the law enforcement community and commercial motor vehicle safety. Within the commercial motor vehicle space, automated driving systems, fatigue, exemptions, CDL age requirements, hours of service and Electronic Logging Devices are common topics of interest on Capitol Hill.
