ELD Mandate Goes into Effect; Inspectors Begin Documenting ELD Violations
December 18, 2017Starting Dec. 18, 2017, inspectors and roadside enforcement personnel throughout the United States will begin documenting ELD violations on roadside inspection reports and, at the jurisdiction’s discretion, will issue citations to commercial motor vehicle drivers operating vehicles without a compliant ELD.

CVSA Releases 2017 Operation Safe Driver Week Results
December 12, 2017Enforcement personnel issued warnings/citations to more than 59,000 commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers for unsafe driving behaviors on our roadways as part of Operation Safe Driver Week, Oct. 15-21, 2017.

CVSA Releases Results from Brake Safety Day
November 7, 2017On Sept. 7, 2017, enforcement personnel conducted 7,698 inspections on commercial motor vehicles as part of Brake Safety Day. Fourteen percent of the vehicles inspected were placed out of service for brake-related violations.

CVSA Prepares for December 2017 ELD Implementation; Announces April 1, 2018, Effective Date for Out-of-Service Criteria Related to ELD Rule
August 28, 2017Starting on Dec. 18, 2017, inspectors and roadside enforcement personnel will begin documenting violations on roadside inspection reports and, at the jurisdiction’s discretion, will issue citations to commercial motor vehicle drivers operating vehicles without a compliant ELD. Beginning April 1, 2018, inspectors will start placing commercial motor vehicle drivers out of service if their vehicle is not equipped with the required device.

CVSA Releases 2017 International Roadcheck Results
August 22, 2017Commercial motor vehicle enforcement personnel in Canada and the United States conducted more than 62,000 driver and vehicle safety inspections on large trucks and buses during the CVSA’s 30th annual International Roadcheck, June 6-8, 2017. 23 percent of vehicles and 4.2 percent of drivers that received Level I Inspections were placed out of service.
