CVSA to Offer COHMED Conference and Data Training Virtually, Cargo Forum Canceled

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has announcements about three of its upcoming events, set for this fall and early next year.

The 2020 North American Cargo Securement Harmonization Public Forum, usually held in November in Canada, has been canceled. The next forum will take place on April 18, 2021, in Louisville, Kentucky, in conjunction with the 2021 CVSA Workshop. The cargo securement harmonization forum provides an opportunity for stakeholders from Canada and the U.S. to work together to ensure the consistency of cargo securement regulatory requirements throughout North America.

The 2021 Cooperative Hazardous Materials Enforcement Development (COHMED) Conference, which was scheduled to be held in Savannah, Georgia, will instead be offered virtually on Jan. 25-28, 2021. In addition, all registration fees to attend the 2021 Virtual COHMED Conference will be waived. The virtual conference will be offered at no cost to registrants and anyone can register. You do not need to be a hazmat specialist, hazmat instructor or a CVSA member to attend.

The COHMED Conference provides training in the regulation, enforcement and safety of transporting hazardous materials/dangerous goods. Although the conference will not be offered in-person this year, attendees to the virtual conference will still receive the same high-quality specialized training and education the conference always provides.

If you are involved in hazmat regulation, transportation, enforcement or safety, the first-ever Virtual COHMED Conference is an online training opportunity you will not want to miss. Or, if you’re interested in learning more about hazardous materials/dangerous goods regulations, inspections and enforcement, check out this conference to enrich and grow your professional knowledge.

CVSA is currently building the schedule for the 2021 Virtual COHMED Conference. The updated schedule and registration will open in November.

CVSA/FMCSA Data Quality and Systems Training will no longer be held in Savannah, Georgia. Instead, it will be a virtual training event offered March 1-5, 2021.

This five-day training event, hosted by CVSA and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), is for information specialists who report inspection and crash records to support federal and state safety programs. Participants will sharpen their information systems and data quality expertise and learn useful tips on how to use FMCSA’s software systems more efficiently and effectively. Sessions will be led by state and federal experts who will share important data capturing and reporting techniques, and present live system demonstrations.

CVSA is currently building the schedule for the Virtual CVSA/FMCSA Data Quality and Systems Training. Registration will open in January, once the schedule has been finalized. There will be no registration fee to attend the virtual training.

At this time, the 2021 CVSA Workshop is still scheduled to take place in April in Louisville, Kentucky. The North American Inspectors Championship (NAIC) is still set to take place in conjunction with the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships and National Step Van Driving Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 2021. And the CVSA Annual Conference and Exhibition will take place as planned, in Wilmington, Delaware, Aug. 29-Sept. 2, 2021.

CVSA will continue to keep the membership updated on the status of future events.
