On Jan. 17, 2019, CVSA submitted comments to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in opposition to a joint exemption request from the American Bakers Association (ABA) and the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) for exemption from various hours-of-service requirements. The application from ABA and IDFA requests that drivers of “essential food staples” be exempt from HOS requirements prior to, during and after an “anticipated disaster event.”
