On Feb. 2, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation held an executive session to vote on the advancement of several nominations, including the nomination of Dr. Steven Cliff to serve as administrator of NHTSA. The committee previously held a hearing to consider the nomination. During the hearing, Dr. Cliff expressed the importance of improving highway safety, especially given the recent increases in fatalities. Now that the committee has advanced his nomination, he will need confirmed by the full Senate.
