On July 30, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation held an executive session to vote on the advancement of several nominations for positions at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), including the nomination of Mr. Derek Barrs to serve as administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The committee had previously held a hearing to consider Mr. Barr’s nomination. Now that the committee has advanced his nomination, he will need to be confirmed by the full Senate.
