On Feb. 17, Congress passed a continuing resolution extending federal funding at fiscal 2021 levels through March 11. President Biden is expected to sign the bill before funding expires at midnight on Feb. 18. This also extends the electronic logging device (ELD) exemption for livestock and insect haulers, included in the 2021 appropriations bill, through March 11. The House passed its version of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) appropriations bill on Aug. 6. The Senate released its version of the bill on Oct. 21, but it has not yet been considered by the Senate Appropriations Committee. Either another continuing resolution or fiscal 2022 funding bills will have to be passed and signed into law on or before the March 11 funding expiration to avoid a federal government shutdown
