On Dec. 7, 2017, Congress passed a continuing resolution funding the federal government through Dec. 22, 2017. The previous continuing resolution was set to expire at midnight on Dec. 8. This gives lawmakers two more weeks to try and reach agreement on spending levels as well as a number of high profile issues.
