U.S. Government Shutdown Likely, FMCSA Unimpacted

The U.S. Congress has been unable to pass funding legislation for the current fiscal year. If an agreement is not reached by end of day today, Dec. 20, the government will shut down due to a lapse in appropriations on Dec. 21.

U.S. Congress Passes Continuing Resolution

On Sept. 25, the U.S. Congress passed a continuing resolution, funding the U.S. government through Dec. 20. The bill, HR 9747, extended current funding levels and avoided the potential government shutdown.

Transportation Spending Bill Becomes Law

On March 9, President Biden signed into law H.R. 4366, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which included the transportation spending bill for fiscal 2024.
