Seventy-seven percent of commercial motor vehicles and 95.2% of commercial motor vehicle drivers did not have any out-of-service violations.

CVSA Releases 2021 International Roadcheck Results
More than 40,000 commercial motor vehicle inspections were conducted May 4-6 for International Roadcheck. Approximately 83.5% of the commercial motor vehicles examined had no out-of-service violations. However, inspectors had to remove 6,710 commercial motor vehicles and 2,080 drivers from roadways – a 16.5% vehicle and 5.3% driver out-of-service rate – over that three-day period after the discovery of out-of-service violations during inspections.

More than 50,000 North American Standard Level I, II, III and V Inspections were conducted throughout Canada, Mexico and the U.S. during 2020 International Roadcheck. The overall vehicle out-of-service rate in North America, for Level I, II and V Inspections combined, was 20.9%.

In March 2020, CVSA announced the postponement of International Roadcheck due to the coronavirus pandemic, with new dates to be determined. CVSA has now rescheduled International Roadcheck for Sept. 9-11. The focus area is driver requirements.
CVSA Postpones International Roadcheck
With public health and safety as its top concern, CVSA has decided to postpone International Roadcheck to later in the year. The Alliance will monitor the status of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and appropriately select the new dates when it’s safe and reasonable to do so.
International Roadcheck Set for May 5-7 with Emphasis on Driver Requirements
CVSA International Roadcheck will take place May 5-7. The focus for 2020 is on the driver requirements category of a roadside inspection.
CVSA Releases Results from 2019 International Roadcheck
On June 4-6, 2019, inspectors conducted 67,072 inspections on commercial motor vehicles as part of CVSA’s International Roadcheck. During those three days, 12,019 vehicles were removed from roadways due to critical vehicle inspection item violations and 2,784 drivers were placed out of service for driver-related violations. That’s a 17.9% overall vehicle out-of-service rate and a 4.2% driver out-of-service rate.

Commercial motor vehicles and their drivers will be checked at inspection sites, weigh stations, strategic locations and roving patrol locations on public roadways in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
