    On August 6, 2015, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published a notice and request for comments on an exemption request from TowMate, LLC, to allow motor carriers to operate rechargeable wireless temporary stop, turn, and tail lighting systems during temporary emergency towing operations in lieu of hard-wired lighting systems.

    On July 23, 2015, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) proposing to amend the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSSs) to require that single-unit trucks be equipped with rear impact guards and reflective tape on the rear and sides of the trucks to improve their visibility.

    On June 26, 2015, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued a notice renewing exemptions for Illumination Fireworks, LLC and ACE Pyro, LLC from the requirement that drivers of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) must not drive a CMV following the 14th hour after coming on duty.

    On June 10, 2015, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published a final rule amending its rulemaking procedures by adding a new section establishing the standards and procedures that the agency will use regarding the submission of certain confidential commercial or financial information that is referred to in this rule as “confidential business information” (CBI).

    On May 28, 2015, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued a notice and request for comment on the agency’s intent to extend its current information collection request (ICR) on the paperwork burden imposed by its regulations pertaining to the training of certain entry-level drivers of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs).
