Update on Relevant U.S. Regulations

FMCSA Renews Medical Review Board Charter
On Dec. 7, 2016, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced the renewal of the Medical Review Board’s charter. The Medical Review Board is a federal advisory committee that provides FMCSA with medical advice and recommendations on medical standards and guidelines for the physical qualifications of commercial motor vehicle drivers, medical examiner education and medical research. The charter renewal was effective Nov. 25, 2017, and is good for two years.

FHWA Seeking Comment on Truck Parking Facilities
On Dec. 6, 2017, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) published a request for comments on the agency’s plans to request information related to truck parking. Section 1401(c) of Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) directs the U.S. Department of Transportation to assess the ability of existing truck parking facilities in the states to meet industry’s needs.
